Driver Licencing

We now have a Driver Licence Programme Coordinator! Deborah Kibble comes from a background in motor sport and working in multiple community projects. Deborah can help with study for your Class 1 licence and driving lessons to prepare you for practical driving tests.

Class 1

If you are currently not in full time employment, we can support you with study and funding for your learners licence, driving lessons, restricted licence, defensive driving courses or your full licence.

AA practice tests (free trial or purchased tests) are available at https://www.aa.co.nz/drivers/learn-to-drive-the-aa-way/road-code-practice-test/

Class 2-5

We can also help with Classes 2-5 including study support, licence fees and driving courses.

DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE

When in demand, we will hold a Defensive Driving Course in Waimate. These are free of charge for those not in employment.

You will need to be available for all four evenings and a drive in Timaru will be arranged after the theory sessions. Please email Lisa to register at lisa.dobson@waimatedc.govt.nz

You will need to have your Restricted Licence to attend this course.

GFORCE VR DRIVING SIMULATOR

Due to a partnership with G Force, Venture Timaru, MTFJ and Ministry of Social Development we are lucky to have a CoDriVR Driver Education Simulator based at Waimate High School Library.

We hold public sessions also so if you would like to experience driving in this safe setting then please get in touch.
